I’ve always avoided eating dried coconut. Macarons, I thought, were the same as macaroons (made from dried coconut), so when I visited Paris last Christmas 2007, the lineup at the Champs Elysées branch of Ladurée wasn’t worth joining. Bah, how great can they be?
